Hey everyone!
As we get close to celebrating our 13-year anniversary, we’ve noticed that some folx still have some misunderstandings about how we operate. I hope this post helps clarify some of that confusion:
BYOB Alcohol Policy Statement
Voodoo Leatherworks operates as a private membership club and does not hold a liquor license. In accordance with that status and applicable laws, Voodoo does not sell alcohol.
Members and their guests may bring their own alcohol for personal consumption at events where it is permitted. While Voodoo may provide controlled pour service, this is done solely to support responsible consumption, maintain awareness of intake, and promote the safety of everyone in the space.
To be absolutely clear:
Voodoo Leatherworks does not accept payment for alcohol in any form—directly or indirectly. This includes, but is not limited to, the sale of drinks, drink tickets, suggested donations for alcohol, or any exchange of goods, services, or benefits tied to alcohol consumption.
All alcohol remains the property of the individual who brought it. Any handling, pouring, or distribution by staff or volunteers is strictly for safety, moderation, and community care—not for sale or service in a commercial sense. This means:
- Any alcohol you consume at a BYOB event, must be your own.
- Any bar service you receive is a means for monitoring the safety of the event.
- There is no “collective” all-members alcohol.
- Please take your alcohol home with you when you leave
- Any alcohol left at the club will be donated to non-profit, community-centric fundraisers
Door fees, membership dues, and event fees are solely for access to the private venue, operational costs, and the experience we provide as a community space. They are not associated with, nor do they include, the provision of alcohol.
We expect all members and guests to consume responsibly. Voodoo reserves the right to limit or prohibit alcohol use at any time to maintain the safety, legality, and integrity of the space.
Dues, Fees and Donations
The membership dues, door fees and donations received from our generous members to Voodoo Leatherworks are used to replenish sodas, chips, candy, laundry detergent, trash bags and all the utilities & supplies we use in the day-to-day operations of this private social club.
To emphasize this, we’ve removed all donation locations from around the kitchen and bar area and placed a single donation box near the door. We can accept cash and Venmo, but please remember that all donations are 100% voluntary and are in no way an exchange for any products, goods or services offered by Voodoo Leatherworks LLC.
Bottled Water
Voodoo has moved away from supplying water in plastic bottles in an effort to preserve our environment. We have installed a water bottle filling station between the kitchen and the coat area and we hope you’ll take the opportunity to use it! While we will have some small, single-serving paper cups available for water, we encourage our Members to bring their own water bottles with them. If you happened to forget your water bottle, we happen to have 20 oz stainless steel tumblers (with straw, cleaning brush and lit) with the Voodoo logo available for sale at the front desk. We can also customize the tumblers with your own special design if you’d like, for a few bucks more. As your MOD and/or Gatekeepers for more details if you’re interested;.
In Closing…
To keep it short, Voodoo has worked hard to learn about and be compliant with the laws that govern our community and to not only support our local businesses, artists and craftspeople, but also to preserve and protect the environment in which we live. Did you know most of our furniture was built with reclaimed materials? Well, now ya do!
We absolutely, 100% appreciate our members, their guests and the Colorado Community. With some luck and your support, we will continue to provide for you through educational and social opportunities, the community space (we hope) you’ve come to love and support.
Thank you!
